At the edge of the known world, where Europe fades into the vast Atlantic, Further - Aeolus whispers an invitation to journey through the tapestry of time.

Here, the untamed wind—the breath of Æolus himself—will guide you over dust, stone, and ancient paths guarded by the spirits of forgotten empires.

The trail winds past ancient pyrite mines, unearthed from the earth's depths by Tartessian hands during the dawn of the Bronze Age, and leads you into the heart of Silves—a storied capital born from the sun-drenched sands of Al-Andalus, when this realm was whispered as Al-Gharb.

While modern travelers seek the Algarve only for its golden summer shores and sculpted sea arches, this race follows a deeper, more sacred pulse. We beckon you into the shadows of the region's forgotten interior—a silent world of ancient hills and rural solitude that the modern eye so often misses.

Starting on the 27th of December, a true gamechanger of this odyssey might be winter itself. With just short of 10 hours of daylight, the scorching summer sun gives way to a fickle, elemental sky where the weather dictates the terms of survival. Under a biting winter breeze and the threat of sudden, sweeping rains, the trail climbs and descents relentlessly.

It will force you to conquer the mist-shrouded peaks of Monchique, the absolute highest point of the race, where freezing temperatures, fierce mountain winds, and thick December fogs turn the landscape into an ethereal, unforgiving fortress.

Your odyssey will weave through the endless, rolling plains of the neighbouring Alentejo, before tracing the horizon eastward to cross into Spanish lands.

Spanning nearly 700 kilometers and ascending 9,000 vertical meters, this journey demands absolute respect and is not to be thought lightly of.

A river ferry crossing, possible wild waters to ford, and two "hike-a-bike" ascents sections. This is no mere race. It is a pilgrimage through the elements—a testament of wind, water, and earth that will test your spirit and stir your soul.
